Annaprashan Muhurat
Annaprashan is performed only in the Shukla paksha. Tradition suggests even months for a boy and odd months for a girl — usually around the sixth month.
Open “why this day was chosen” beside each date — it names every rule and its value, so you can check it against your own panchang. A calculation that cannot be verified does not deserve trust.
All the calculation happens in this browser — your city is never sent anywhere.
What this page tells you
This gives auspicious days for a child’s first solid food — Annaprashan — for your city, with the reasoning shown.
How a day is chosen
Fifteen nakshatras are held favourable — Ashwini, Rohini, Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha, Shravana, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati. The weekdays are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. One condition is particular here: only the bright fortnight is used — the waxing Moon, since the ceremony concerns nourishment and growth.
How to read the result
Rikta tithis (4, 9, 14) and the new moon are removed as usual, and the selection is then made only from what the bright-fortnight condition leaves. So fewer days appear here, and that is deliberate. Each day carries its auspicious hours.
Common questions
At what age is Annaprashan held?
Tradition usually points to around six months — with a custom in many places of even months for a boy and odd for a girl. Follow your family’s practice.
Why not the dark fortnight?
Because the ceremony concerns growth, and the tradition chooses a waxing Moon for it. The same condition applies to the tonsure.
Why are there so few days?
Deliberately so. The bright-fortnight condition alone removes half the calendar. Showing fewer days beats showing wrong ones.
