Griha Pravesh Muhurat

For Griha Pravesh, both Panchak and Chaturmas are avoided. Both come from calculation, not from a fixed list — so every day is checked on its own.

Working out the muhurats…
These are generally auspicious days. A real muhurat also weighs your chart (both charts, for a wedding), the Moon’s position and Chandrashtama — none of which is possible without birth details. Which of these days is right for you is something an astrologer decides.

Open “why this day was chosen” beside each date — it names every rule and its value, so you can check it against your own panchang. A calculation that cannot be verified does not deserve trust.

All the calculation happens in this browser — your city is never sent anywhere.

What this page tells you

This gives auspicious days for entering a new home — Griha Pravesh — for your city, each with the reasoning behind it.

How a day is chosen

Ten nakshatras are held favourable — Rohini, Mrigashira, Chitra, Anuradha, Revati, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada, Dhanishta and Shatabhisha. The weekdays are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Rikta tithis and the new moon are removed. Two periods are specifically excluded: Chaturmas and Panchak. House-entry is not performed during Panchak, and it is filtered out automatically here.

How to read the result

Each day comes with its auspicious hours — Abhijit and the favourable Choghadiya, derived from your city’s sunrise. For a house-warming the hour matters as much as the day, so read them together. These are general days; an astrologer picks one from them after seeing the owner’s chart.

Common questions

What is Panchak, and why avoid it?

When the Moon travels the five nakshatras from the second quarter of Dhanishta to Revati, the period is called Panchak. The tradition advises avoiding construction and house-entry during it.

Is a muhurat needed for a rented home?

The tradition looks for a muhurat whenever one first moves into a new home, owned or rented. How closely to follow it is your own decision.

The house isn’t finished — can we still enter?

The tradition advises against entering an unfinished house. This page gives days only; the state of the house is not part of it.
