What this calculator tells you
This computes your Sarvashtakavarga (SAV) and each planet’s Bhinnashtakavarga (BAV) — that is, how many bindus each sign receives. Ashtakavarga is the method that turns “good or bad” into a number.
How the calculation works
Each of the seven planets plus the Ascendant — eight in all — contributes a bindu to the others at certain fixed positions. Every planet has its own rule, laid down in the texts. Summing all contributions gives the Sarvashtakavarga. There is a clean check on it: the SAV bindus across the twelve signs always total 337. If they don’t, the computation is wrong.
How to read the result
Signs with more bindus tend to run smoothly; those with fewer take more effort. Above 28 is generally read as strong and below 25 as weak. These numbers are most useful when reading transits — particularly those of Saturn and Jupiter.

Why does it total 337?
Because the number of bindus each planet contributes is fixed by the texts, so the grand total is constant. That makes it a useful check — a faulty calculator gets caught right here.
What is the difference between BAV and SAV?
BAV is one planet’s own bindu chart. SAV is the sum of all seven. Use the BAV when reading a single planet’s transit, the SAV for the overall picture.
How many bindus count as good?
The common convention is 28+ strong, under 25 weak. But the number is not read alone — the planet’s condition and the running dasha matter too.
