Shubh Muhurat

Half of a muhurat is about timing — and Rahu Kaal, Choghadiya and Abhijit are all measured from sunrise. Delhi and Chennai differ by about 35 minutes, so one fixed time cannot be correct for both.

Working out the muhurats…
These are generally auspicious days. A real muhurat also weighs your chart (both charts, for a wedding), the Moon’s position and Chandrashtama — none of which is possible without birth details. Which of these days is right for you is something an astrologer decides.

Open “why this day was chosen” beside each date — it names every rule and its value, so you can check it against your own panchang. A calculation that cannot be verified does not deserve trust.

All the calculation happens in this browser — your city is never sent anywhere.

What this page tells you

This brings the auspicious muhurats for every ceremony into one place — marriage, house-warming, ground-breaking, naming, first feeding, tonsure and vehicle purchase. Each day is tested for the city you choose.

How a day is chosen

Most websites publish a fixed list of muhurats, identical for everyone. That is wrong, for a simple reason: half of a muhurat is timing, and timing varies with place. Rahu Kaal, Choghadiya and Abhijit are all measured from sunrise, and sunrise in Delhi and Chennai differs by about 35 minutes. So each day is examined here on its own: tithi, nakshatra, weekday, Bhadra, Kharmas, Chaturmas, Panchak, and the combustion of Jupiter and Venus — after which the day’s auspicious hours are derived from that city’s sunrise.

How to read the result

Open “why this day was chosen” under each date — it names every rule and the value it took. That lets you check the result against your own panchang; a calculation that cannot be checked does not deserve trust. And to be clear: these are general auspicious days. A real muhurat also weighs the chart, the Moon’s position and Chandrashtama — none of which is possible without birth details.

Common questions

Why are so few days shown?

Because the rules are kept strict. Someone’s marriage or house-warming rests on the day chosen — saying “probably fine” there does the most damage. Showing fewer days beats showing more.

Another site shows many more muhurats — is it wrong?

Not necessarily wrong, but it may be applying fewer tests, or not deriving timings from your city. Every rule is named here, so you can compare for yourself.

Does this settle my muhurat?

No. It is a starting point, not a conclusion. Which of these days suits you is decided by looking at your chart.
