Ishta Devata Calculator
In the Jaimini system the Ishta Devata is read from the 12th house from the Karakamsa. The whole path is shown here — the Atmakaraka, its Navamsa sign, and the 12th from that — so you can check it yourself.
What this calculator tells you
This gives the Jaimini indication of your Ishta Devata — the deity whose worship is said to come most naturally to you. The whole derivation is shown, not just the answer, so you can check it yourself.
How the calculation works
The Atmakaraka is found first, by degree order. Its Navamsa (D9) sign is called the Karakamsa. The 12th house from the Karakamsa is then examined — whichever planet sits there gives the indication. If no planet occupies it, the lord of that sign is taken instead.
How to read the result
All three steps are shown separately — the Atmakaraka, its Karakamsa, and the 12th from it — so the derivation can be verified. This is an indication, not an instruction: the tradition itself holds that the deity your heart settles on is your ishta. If that agrees with this result, good; if not, there is no need to change.
Common questions
Can the Ishta Devata be changed?
Devotion does not depend on a calculation. This is one indication from the chart — if you feel drawn to another deity, that is not wrong.
Why the 12th house specifically?
In the Jaimini system the 12th relates to moksha and to what is left behind, which is why the ishta is read from there.
How much does the birth time matter?
A great deal. The Karakamsa comes from the navamsa, and the navamsa can change every 13 minutes. A wrong time gives a wrong answer.
