A one-day reading uses the five fast planets — the Moon, Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars.

The Moon is central only here. It changes sign in about two and a quarter days, so within a single day it makes the greatest difference — and for exactly that reason it has no place in a longer reading.

Jupiter and Saturn are deliberately absent. Jupiter stays in a sign for about a year and Saturn for two and a half — putting them into a daily reading would mean repeating the same sentence all year.
