What this calculator tells you
This checks whether your chart carries Mangal Dosha (Manglik) — and if so, on what basis. It also states the classical exemptions the tradition itself provides, because giving half the answer amounts to giving a wrong one.
How the calculation works
Mars’s sign is found, then its house is counted from the Ascendant and again from the Moon sign. The classical dosha houses are 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 and 12. If Mars falls in any of these from either reference, the dosha is registered. Exemptions are then checked: Mars in its own sign (Aries or Scorpio), or an aspect from Jupiter.
How to read the result
The verdict is given with its reason — from which reference, in which house. An exalted Mars (Capricorn) is not counted as an exemption; it strengthens Mars rather than weakening the dosha, and that is stated rather than glossed over. Mangal Dosha alone does not decide a marriage; it is read together with the 36 gunas.
